In our laboratory, we study the brain organization and cognitive processes that subserve music cognition. In particular, we focus on the musical potential of ordinary people, its neural correlates, its heritability and its specificity relative to language. We also study emotions. Our approach is experimental and exploits various techniques (such as the behavioral study of normal subjects, the study of deficits, electrophysiology (ERP), functional and anatomical brain imaging).
Notre laboratoire étudie les principes d'organisation cérébrales et les processus cognitifs impliqués dans la cognition musicale. En particulier, nos recherches visent à saisir le potentiel musical général, d'en étudier les bases neurales, héréditaires et spécifiques. Nous étudions aussi les émotions musicales. L'approche tient de la psychologie expérimentale et de la neuropsychologie cognitive et table sur plusieurs techniques (dont l'étude comportementale des individus normaux et déficients, les potentiels évoqués, la résonnance magnétique).

Our laboratory is part of the BRAMS, the International Laboratory for Brain, Music and Sound Research. This research unit affiliated with the University of Montreal, McGill University and the Montreal Neurological Institute specializes in the study of music cognition.
